Best of the Week

I have a little confession.  I usually write this post on Thursday night in order to have it published Friday morning.

Why am I confessing this?

Well, because today/tomorrow/Friday, is my birthday.  And those who know me and read my blog may wonder why my birthday wasn’t part of the Best of the Week.  Well, it’s because I am writing this post and still a 34-year-old.  My 35th birthday celebration will most likely be the highlight of next week’s Best of post.

So here’s what was great about this week, my final at age 34:

Boxing Round 2

Last weekend, we had another great workout at Title Boxing Club.  This time, some wonderful members of the Charlotte Fit 4 Me meetup group joined us during this free 1 hour Power Hour class.  It was 15 minutes of cardio drills, 30 minutes of kickboxing drills, and 15 minutes of ab work.  It’s so much fun you hardly notice you are drenched in sweat!

Vacation Planning

Yes, we already have our summer vacation planned.  Everything was finalized over the weekend and I’m so excited!!  We will be going on a cruise to Alaska and I’m ready for the summer to be here so I can go.  Just thinking about all the adventures – fun, fun, fun!

Birthday Freebies

I love a good freebie.  And if you haven’t already, you need to sign up for your favorite places birthday clubs.  Stores and restaurants alike will send you coupons on your birthday to use – and many times you get things for free!

This week we had a lovely breakfast at Café Monte – one of the best breakfast’s in Charlotte in my opinion – and my meal was free!  We also had a fun date night at Menchie’s frozen yogurt with $5 off of our yogurt purchase.  And since neither of us fill that huge dish with ice cream – our total was just a little over a dollar.  I still have more coupons to use and am looking forward to more freebies!

The Dating Diva’s Date Night 30 Day Challenge

If you haven’t heard of the Dating Divas, you should check out their website.  It’s full of great date night ideas, family friendly fun nights and has lots of printables and unique games that kids of all ages would enjoy.

They are hosting a 30 Day Date Night Challenge on Instagram which I am taking part in.  Each day they announced the date night theme – they are always simple and fun.  We’ve had a home movie night and an ice cream night (free Menchie’s!).  Some days the assignments are little surprises – like sending a sweet text or writing a note on their favorite beverage.  It’s a fun thing to do, and we’ve both enjoyed the first week.
