Holiday Calorie Burn

I’m warning you, what you are about to see may make you think twice about what you eat during the holidays.

And yes, I guess that’s the point.

I don’t want to scare you away from enjoying your favorite holiday treats, but I do want you to think about whether certain foods are worth the calories.  Are you just so-so with mashed potatoes but eat them because they’re on your plate?  Do you eat a slice of Aunt Jane’s pumpkin pie to be polite but really you’d rather have a cookie?

These crazy but true facts can help put your holiday treats in perspective.

Glazed Ham

A 3 ounce serving – about the size of a deck of cards – is 120 calories.

It will take 8 1/2 minutes of squat presses to burn off that bit of ham.

Mashed Potatoes and Gravy

3/4 cup of this side dish is 230 minutes.

It will take 15 minutes of plank rows to burn off 230 calories!

Green Bean Casserole

A scoop of green bean casserole is 120 calories.

It will take 10 minutes of jumping lunges to burn off that scoop.

Pumpkin Pie

What does it take to burn 323 calories?

32 minutes of burpees!
